Anyone can potentially have a successful online career, something seen quite often in the blogging world, but one of the biggest downfalls that many people just starting out in the online business seem to get trapped in is not knowing how to spend money in order to make money.  It can be quite confusing but there are few basic things that anyone should know if they’re looking to really make it in the online market.

It sounds strange, but think of your online endeavor as a bank and imagine you’re looking for the best high yield savings rates in the form of creating the best thing you possibly can.  Just as you would remove money from your spending account to move into your savings account, you’re putting money into your website in an effort to watch your investment grow.

Buying a domain is crucial.  It’s something that many people are hesitant to purchase at first, but it’s such a significant part in creating an online presence for yourself that it simply cannot be ignored.  Very rarely will people put much trust into the things said or done by those who are running off a shared URL and this happens for various reasons, but overall, an owned domain just looks and feels much more professional.  You can find some cheap domain providers with a little bit of research so you won’t necessarily be paying too much for an existing domain unless you really can’t think of an alternative or have fallen in love with the domain.

When it comes to website design, those just starting out can probably skip this step for the first few months.  Website design is quite expensive and the sad fact is that, just as with anything in life, your first try might not be so successful.  While a domain name can be stored and reused in the future given that you don’t let it expire, a customized website design might be a one-time commodity that can’t be used again in the future.

This is where premium features come in.  There are plenty of free programs and services out there that allow users to see their website stats such as page views, subscribers, and where these viewers are coming from, but they usually don’t do your website justice.  Drop some money on an expensive one that allows you more control over the information you’re seeing and how you’re seeing it and it will go a long way toward seeing where your website stands in relation to where you want it to.  Likewise, these tools will also be able to give you a more distinct view of when and where you should be spending more money.

If your viewer count is steadily rising, it could be time to finally pay someone to customize your website so it looks more professional and has more of a unique feel.  This is also a good time to see if you need to put some finances into buying advertising for your website to bring more people to your content.  All of these things are much easier to track and manage if you buy the premium statistic viewers.

Some services are better bought than garnered free as some of them will drastically increase your chances of having your website becoming popular, rising through the ranks of Google and ultimately making you more money in the long run.  Once you get the hang of the basics and your website starts to grow, you’ll be able to look into some of the advanced features.
